Carrie Brownlee announced as new Treasurer of Bond
Carrie Brownlee has recently joined the Bond Board as its new Treasurer, having taken up the role in April 2026.
Carrie Brownlee qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG almost 20 years ago, and has since dedicated her career to the international NGO sector in various roles, including as Co-Managing Director at Women for Women International UK, Director of Finance and Operations at Concern Worldwide UK and Treasurer at AbleChildAfrica. She is currently Chief Operating Officer at International Alert.
Carrie brings extensive senior leadership experience to the Board of Bond, having supported a number of international development organisations to deliver meaningful, sustainable impact through their work. She is motivated by the role that well-run organisations play in driving global progress.
Carrie succeeds Nick Waring, Director of Finance & Resources at Disasters Emergency Committee, who held the role of Treasurer for five years.
Kirsty Smith, Board Chair of Bond, the UK network for NGOs, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome Carrie to Bond’s Board as our new Treasurer. Carrie has significant experience within the international NGO sector, and her proven commitment to strong governance, accountability and ethical leadership will be a valuable addition to the Board.
I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our outgoing Treasurer, Nick Waring, for his exceptional contributions to Bond and its Board over five years in the role. We look forward to staying in touch as Nick continues his work at Disasters Emergency Committee.”
Carrie Brownlee said:
“I am delighted to have been appointed as Treasurer of the Board at Bond. The INGO sector is navigating a changing global context, including facing increased financial pressures amid cuts to international aid budgets. Bond’s role in supporting its members to adapt to this new landscape is more important than ever, and I look forward to working alongside Kirsty and the rest of the Board to ensure Bond continues to be a dynamic and resilient voice for the sector.”
