What does the Dasgupta Review means for sustainable development?

26 April 2021Bond

In 2019, HM Treasury commissioned an independent, global review on the economics of biodiversity, led by Professor Sir Partha Dasgupta.

The Review presents the first comprehensive economic framework of its kind for biodiversity, and calls for urgent and transformative change.

This interactive webinar will discuss what the Dasgupta Review means for sustainable development internationally, with a focus on implications for UK government, but also for NGOs working on the SDGs. We will be joined by officials from HM Treasury who will provide an accessible summary of its key findings, as well as an expert from WWF to provide an initial response to the review from the perspective of an NGO working on development and environmental issues.

We hope that this webinar will help you and your organisation think through the value of nature and take an integrated approach to sustainable development in what is a critical year in our efforts to promote economic, social and environmental justice , and prioritise the welfare of the most excluded and left behind. The Bond SDG group is committed to ensuring there is a full focus on every dimension of the SDGs, including people, planet, prosperity and peace – including a focus on policy coherence and maximising value from synergies, and being aware of and mitigating potential trade-offs.
