Kate Sayer appointed as new Bond Board Chair

Kate Sayer has been appointed as Bond’s new Board Chair and will be starting in mid-November for the start of a 3-year term. Kate Sayer succeeds Caroline Nursey who took over as Chair in 2017.

Kate was previously a partner at charity auditors Sayer Vincent. Since retiring from audit, Kate has a portfolio of consultancy clients, including some INGOs, and particularly works with organisations to develop their approaches to risk management and decision-making. Kate is also a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School and a trustee of the Association of Chairs as well as a non-executive Director of Charity Bank.

Kate Sayer said:

“I’m delighted to be taking over as Chair of Bond at a time when international development charities need to address big issues about how they work. The work of our members is so important – addressing the needs of people who are poor and vulnerable. Together, we can make sure that this work is prioritised despite the uncertain global environment. I’m looking forward to hearing from members and working with the Board and staff team.”

Caroline Nursey, out-going Chair of Bond and Executive Director at BBC Media Action said:

“It has been a great privilege being the Chair of Bond and I am delighted to be handing over to Kate Sayer who has the skills, experience and energy that Bond needs in the next few years. Bond is more important than ever, and I am proud of its work in supporting and magnifying the work of our 400 plus members.

In the last couple of years, we have helped drive up safeguarding standards, championed the UK’s expertise and life-saving humanitarian work during Brexit negotiations, and advocated for civil society space so that UK NGOs can advocate freely on development and aid policies. Bond’s work supports our members to more effectively help people around the world who are facing poverty, conflict and climate change. I hope that Kate enjoys her time as Chair of Bond as much as I have done.”

Stephanie Draper, Bond CEO said:

“I am delighted to welcome Kate. Bond is about ensuring that the sector is stronger together and good governance is a critical part of that. Kate brings so much expertise and experience to that and we are looking forward to working together. I would also like to thank Caroline for her fantastic stewardship of Bond and her generous support and mentoring for me.”
