Bond statement in response to Boris Johnson becoming the next UK Prime Minister

Stephanie Draper, CEO of Bond the UK networks for NGOs said:

“We hope the new Prime Minister will continue to build on the UK’s globally respected reputation on international development so we can keep tackling some of the world’s toughest problems and support the worlds’ poorest countries to thrive.

Much of the UK’s success is thanks to an independent Department for International Development (DFID), represented in the Cabinet by a Secretary of State for International Development. DFID has ensured we are a global guardian of good quality aid which is key to ensuring the government protects the UK’s role as an “international development superpower,” making the world healthier, safer, and more prosperous for us all.”
