Reframing Philanthropy

4 February 2026

As governments on both sides of the Atlantic cut back on their commitments to overseas aid and climate action, many in these sectors are wondering how to get their message across in an increasingly difficult environment.

This webinar:

  • Examined the issues facing the sector, from zero-sum thinking to misinformation
  • Considered how reframing philanthropic goals can regain support from a polarised public
  • Built on both public and private research, as Focaldata presented a playbook for aid and climate messaging fit for 2026
  • Included an interactive Q&A

You heard from expert speaker Patrick Flynn (Data Journalist, Focaldata). Patrick is Focaldata’s in-house Data Journalist, where he bridges quantitative research and data storytelling through advanced visualisation and analysis. He has led major research projects, written for leading media outlets, and spearheads our UK and US elections coverage. He was the lead author of Focaldata’s white paper ‘Foundations at Risk’, explaining why support for overseas aid had fallen across the West.
