Making a difference to global poverty: Can the public believe in themselves?

We heard from Molly Anders and David Hudson at the Development Engagement Lab as they took a closer look at the public’s belief that their own contribution ‘won’t make a difference’ in the lives of the world’s most vulnerable, and how to successfully reconnect the public with their own ability to transform the lives of others.

This session explored:

  • The UK public’s perceived ability to make a difference to global poverty
  • Existing evidence from the Development Engagement Lab that a) Efficacy drives support and b) Efficacy is moveable
  • New results from a series of recent experiments exploring how to replicate the drivers of efficacy in public communications/engagement settings
