Bond statement in response to reports that Israel intends to take over Gaza City

Responding to reports that Israel intends to take over Gaza, which will cause further displacement of already suffering Palestinians, Mike Wright, acting CEO of Bond, said:

“It is alarming to read reports of Israel’s plan to take control of Gaza City, as civilian harm, famine, and genocide continue to escalate. While the Prime Minister has urged reconsideration, the UK’s response lacks robustness, urgency and concrete action.

“The UK needs to use its influence and leverage to prevent further suffering, ensure compliance with international law, and uphold its own humanitarian obligations to Palestinians. This includes implementing a comprehensive arms embargo, fully applying the ICJ Advisory Opinion, working to guarantee unrestricted humanitarian access through trusted UN mechanisms, protecting civilians, and ensuring accountability.”
