Latest Bond statement on Gaza

Bond has made the following statement in reaction to the dire situation in Gaza:

Global and domestic outrage at what is happening in Gaza finally seems to be reaching a tipping point – arguably far too late. What more needs to happen for global leaders to turn words of condemnation into meaningful action? We are witnessing deliberate starvation leading to famine. This is a man-made catastrophe that could have been prevented, yet the UK and its international allies, have failed to act.

We have seen a total siege of Gaza followed by a blockade of humanitarian assistance and a deeply flawed and politicised US- backed humanitarian programme that is unsafe, dangerous, violating core humanitarian principles and completely failing the people it claims to help.

The UK government’s words are not enough. Expressing support for humanitarian access and a ceasefire means very little without concrete action. The government must immediately take urgent action to ensure an end to this crisis.

Israel must allow humanitarian assistance in – not tomorrow, not next week, but now. And if they don’t, there must be real consequences that apply pressure to ensure they do.

ENDS.
