Murali Shanmugavelan is a trustee of Village Service Trust, which has been working for more than 35 years to support marginalised people in their pursuit of lives free from poverty, violence and discrimination in Tamil Nadu, southern India.
He has over 20 years of experience of the role of media and communication technologies to foster greater inclusion and participation in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
His doctoral research is focused on understanding caste-based exclusion by studying communication experiences of a Tamil Dalit community.
