21 year old Memory Banda is a tireless leader for girls’ rights in Malawi and around the world and an advocate and campaigner to end child marriage. She has been instrumental in the amendment of the constitution and the change of legal marriage age from 15 to 18 years in Malawi.

Since 2011, she has been working with adolescent girls after witnessing different cases related to child marriages in her family, community and in the country at large. At community level, she influenced traditional leaders to formulate community bylaws to protect girls from child marriages. At national level, she advocated for the amendment of the constitution and raise of legal marriage age from 15 to 18.
