Mary Wickenden leads the disability research team at the Institute of Development Studies. She is an anthropologist interested in the lives and concerns of people with disabilities globally.

She is particularly interested in working using inclusive participatory methods, with both children and adults with disabilities as collaborators. She has worked on various topics including: community-based inclusive development and participatory evaluation, inclusive education, employment and health, as well as on violence and abuse experienced by disabled people.
