Mark Mapemba

Mark Mapemba is from Malawi. Mark is a person with an intellectual disability and is an active self-advocate, speaking up for his own rights and the rights of his peers with an intellectual disability.

Mark has travelled around the world sharing his experiences and the experiences of others and advocating for the rights of people with an intellectual disability and their families. Mark has spoken several times at the UN on the rights of people with disabilities and their families.
Mark currently serves as the Self-advocacy Coordinator at Inclusion International. He supports members with their work with self-advocates, including coordinating the Plena Interactional self-advocacy network and supporting the Empower Us and Listen Include Respect programmes.

In Malawi, Mark served as a youth representative and board member for PODCAM (Parents of Disabled Children Association of Malawi), Mark he is a board member of Special Olympics Malawi, Mark was a vice president of inclusion international and a board member of inclusion international and was part of UNICEF’s youth council.
