This session explores different perspectives on aid and asks what NGO leaders need to be doing to defend it.
We are witnessing a significant shift in the UK’s direction of travel on international development, with aid often used as a proxy for wider development issues. The last few months have seen a heightening of anti-aid rhetoric. Some are questioning its level, its form and its very existence. If we believe aid is still important and relevant as a means of addressing global poverty and inequality, what should sector leaders be doing now to fight for it? What efforts and resources should we put into defending and promoting the overseas development assistance provided by the British government? Is there an alternative?
This session is for: Senior leaders
