Rebuilding political support for 0.7% spending on UK aid

Tuesday, May 25, 2021 - 11:30 to 12:15

Despite widespread opposition from the NGO sector, the UK government dissolved the Department for International Development and cut the aid budget to just 0.5% of gross national income.

This session will explore how we got to the moment when the UK reneged on its 0.7% aid spending commitment and how we can rebuild political support for poverty-focussed aid and development.

You’ll get new ideas on how NGOs can work with parliamentarians to restore the 0.7% aid budget and foster new political champions for international development.
