Governments and other powerful actors use different narratives that stigmatise and undermine the work of civil society to restrict basic human rights and freedoms. In some countries, campaigners and activists are depicted as “foreign agents”, while in others they are criticised for being too political.
This session will explore how we can challenge these narratives and tell a more positive story about civil society and develop new narratives for human rights. You’ll learn about the role narratives can play in either bringing about or blocking social change.
This session is for: professionals working in campaigning, advocacy, mobilisation, communications, civil society capacity building and public affairs.
