Zohra is director of programmes at Mama Cash and is currently also their acting executive director.
Based in Amsterdam, Mama Cash is the oldest international women’s fund in the world. It provides small grants and other non-financial support to grassroots social justice and human rights groups led by women, girls and transgender people. It also supports and collaborates with other national, regional and thematic women’s funds. Mama Cash has awarded more than €48 million in direct grants to over 6,000 women’s, girl's, and transgender people’s groups around the world.
Prior to joining Mama Cash, Zohra was women’s rights advisor at ActionAid UK, and senior policy and campaigns officer at the Fawcett Society. Since 2007, Zohra has been a freelance blogger and reporter for the Guardian, openDemocracy and The F-Word.
