Sisonke Msimang is a South African writer whose work is focused on race, gender and democracy. She is the author of Always Another Country: A memoir of exile and home and has written for a range of international publications including the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Guardian, Newsweek and Al Jazeera.

She was the executive director of Open Society Foundations Southern Africa Foundation (OSISA) between 2008 - 2012 and also worked for the United Nations Joint Program on AIDS (UNAIDS) and before that UNIFEM based in New York. She has held fellowships at Yale University and at the Aspen Institute.
