Bex Gilbert started out as a news reporter and then features writer in local newspapers, moved into regional current affairs TV production and has worked for the British Red Cross for the past ten years. She is currently UK media manager, supporting a large team of regionally-based media officers to profile the organisation’s work helping anyone, in the UK and around the world, get the support they need if crisis strikes. Bex believes stories have the power to help people process difficult experiences in their lives and to influence and inspire others to take action. Storytelling should be a collaborative process, with a central understanding that they belong to individuals, not the organisations wanting to tell them.
