An award-winning journalist, author and broadcaster, Rachel has reported extensively on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - she was a Jerusalem-based Guardian correspondent for five years - and the wider Middle East region, from the war between Lebanon and Israel in 2006, the Gaza war of 2008 and the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. As well as the Guardian, she has written for a variety of international publications, including The New York Times, The London Times, The Independent, Al Jazeera English, Foreign Policy, The New Statesman and The Nation.
She is a regular commentator across broadcast media, including BBC News, Sky News and Al Jazeera English as well as BBC World Service radio. She has appeared on news debates, papers reviews and programmes such as the Andrew Marr Show, BBC Newsnight, Dateline London, the Daily Politics and CNN Talk - bringing analysis and opinion on UK and world events.
She is also a media and communications consultant, working with clients including international NGOs, think tanks and academics to develop and enhance media and presentation skills.
