Miranda Brown is the protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) manager at the CHS Alliance. She is an expert on sexual exploitation and abuse in the UN context and has direct experience as a whistleblower.
In 2015, while working at the UN’s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, she disclosed child sexual abuse by foreign troops in the Central African Republic. She has testified as a key witness before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee on sexual exploitation and abuse in UN peacekeeping and contributed to the UK International Development Committee’s inquiry on sexual exploitation and abuse in the aid sector.
Prior to this she worked for the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in various positions, including as deputy permanent representative to the UN in Geneva.
At the CHS, she supports organisations to improve their PSEA systems and implement the Core Humanitarian Standards for Quality and Accountability.
