Louisa Casson

Oceans campaigner
Greenpeace UK

Louisa Casson is an oceans campaigner at Greenpeace UK, where she is leading the UK’s campaign for a Global Ocean Treaty and planning a ship tour across the Atlantic this summer to explore the Lost City at risk from deep sea mining. Last year, she led the UK campaign of Greenpeace’s global Protect the Antarctic work, and has worked on brand attacks focused on Coca-Cola and the soft drinks industry to reduce their plastic footprint.

Louisa previously worked in Parliament as an advisor to the shadow secretary of state for energy and climate change, latterly for international trade, where she helped strengthen Labour’s position to ban fracking and worked cross-party to develop the Divest Parliament campaign. She also co-ordinated advocacy in European capitals to influence more ambitious EU climate policy and diplomacy in the run-up to the Paris Agreement at the thinktank Third Generation Environmentalism (E3G).

Louisa was a co-director for the UK Youth Climate Coalition, organising with the international youth climate movement to bring youth voices and energy to the UN climate talks, and remains involved with grassroots activism (and so inspired by the Climate Strikes!).
