Joëlle Jenny is the director heading the UK’s Joint Funds Unit, which oversees the delivery of the UK’s cross-government Prosperity Fund and the Conflict, Security and Stability Fund (CSSF). The Funds operate across government, working towards the UK’s National Security and Aid Strategy objectives.
From 2016-2018 she was an associate at the Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs at Harvard, and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Council on the Future of International Security. Her research focused on disruptive technologies, international peace and security, and conflict prevention.
From 2011-2016 she was director for security policy and conflict prevention at the EU’s External Action Service in Brussels, on secondment from the UK government. She led the external dimensions of EU cyber and outer space security policy; non-proliferation and arms control; counter-terrorism; conflict prevention; and sanctions policy.
She has worked extensively in Iraq, Yemen and the Palestinian Territories, and has held postings in Brussels, New York, Angola, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Cambodia, Rwanda and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. She holds an MA in International Security from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston, USA.
