James Wakibia is a photographer and environmental activist, campaigning for a ban on single-use plastics and better solid waste management in Kenya. Between 2013 and 2017, he successfully campaigned for a ban on single-use plastic bags, leading to a ban by the Kenyan government on plastic carrier bags.
Currently he is leading a campaign which encourages African countries to address increasing plastic pollution and to place bans on most single-use plastics. He uses Photography and social media to raise awareness of over-dependence on unnecessary plastics and he has partnered with the Flip-Flipi, a project to build a boat from plastic waste.
His mantra is ''Less Plastic is Fantastic''.
James will be delivering the plenary address at Bond Conference 2020.
