Dr Kemal Shaheen has over 15 years' experience in the international development and voluntary sector. For the last seven years he has worked in programme management and partnership development with experience across Africa, Latin America and Asia. Since 1999, Kemal has worked for a number of international development organisations based in the UK in a variety of different capacities. This included a three year period as chief executive of Village Aid. He holds a degree in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University and a PhD exploring educational exclusion and caste discrimination in India from Canterbury Christ Church University.
