After an early career in engineering, Alasdair worked as a management consultant from 2001 to 2014, then as director of transformation and member of the Management Board at the British Council – a charity and arms-length body of the Foreign Office.
He has extensive experience in marketplace reform, organisational change, and often works at the interface between sectors, such as:
- Industry, academia and government on the commercialisation of nano-technologies
- Outsourcing and joint ventures: corporate functions and ‘front line’ services like probation
- Technology in healthcare
- Public sector reform
These different experiences have strong common threads: human capacity for change, governance, and horizon scanning to be ‘wise before the event’.
