Bond elects new board members at AGM
Bond members appointed two new members to the board at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 6 December. The Bond membership also reappointed three of the current board members.
Senior leaders from across the Bond membership elected Paul Smith Lomas, international director at Practical Action, and Catherine David, head of innovation and business services at the Fairtrade Foundation. The reappointed board members were Caroline Nursey from BBC Media Action, Gibril Faal from AFFORD and Eleanor Harrison from GlobalGiving UK.
Paul Smith Lomas has a long track record of successfully leading humanitarian and development organisations at senior level across the world, including strategic and operational management in commercial, NGO and governmental settings at VSO, Action Aid and Oxfam.
“I believe Bond has a critical role to play in enabling the UK NGO sector, with its amazing track record as a deliverer and innovator in the world of international development, to navigate its way through a period of change and uncertainty,” said Lomas.
Catherine David’s extensive experience at Fairtade includes leading on the continuous improvement of the organisation’s core business functions, and the development of new and innovative business models.
“The challenges facing Bond and its members in a word of rapid social, political, economic and technological change, are ones that we have had to face at Fairtrade and I am a strong believer in the role of innovative thinking and informed risk-taking in addressing these challenges, and moving positively and dynamically into the future that awaits us,” said David.
