We are looking for an experienced and creative individual to join us as Senior Campaigns Adviser, developing and delivering innovative campaigns focused on Save the Children’s priority conflict and humanitarian issues. These campaigns will be expected to put pressure on governments around the world to change policies and practices to ensure children are protected.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Policy, Advocacy, and Campaigns department is where we drive political agendas at national and global levels. We’ve integrated lobbying, policy, research and campaigning into one agile, powerful engine for change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As Senior Campaigns Adviser you will provide strategic campaigning and advocacy guidance and support for Save the Children programme staff. • Actively maintain positive working relationships outside of your role, across the organisation and with key regional and national staff
  • Support the development of strong relationships with campaigning partners and coalitions
  • Support Save the Children countries and members to develop strong civil society engagement and the building of social movements for change at national level
  • Understand and commit to promoting Save the Children’s Volunteer Framework within the campaigns team and wider organisation.
  • Advise on budget requirements, operate within the budget available and manage budgets, as required

To be successful you will have experience working for an international organisational and experience of developing campaign strategies, with the knowledge and understanding of a range of campaign tactics. With a good understanding of the external environment, you should have a good knowledge of conflict and emergencies issues. A clear understanding of how to create impactful campaigns with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and the ability to handle multiple work streams are also essential.  In addition you will have:

  • Knowledge of working with civil society actors to deliver change and the ability to effectively manage and work within networks and coalitions
  • A good understanding of target institution structures, processes and procedures
  • Good project management skills, with a proven ability to plan work and meet deadlines when working under pressure on a number of projects, across a complex organisation
  • Demonstrably strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • A willingness and ability to travel to countries outside of the UK.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us.
