The Royal Academy of Engineering is harnessing the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone.

In collaboration with our Fellows and partners, we’re growing talent and developing skills for the future, driving innovation and building global partnerships, and influencing policy and engaging the public.

Together we’re working to tackle the greatest challenges of our age.

Engineering is at the heart of our nation and our future: transforming ideas and materials into global infrastructure, products and services that increase the wealth and health of our economy and society. As the UK’s national academy for engineering, we bring together the discipline’s finest minds to promote excellence and champion innovation.

The Academy is advertising a vacancy for a Programme Officer within our Sustainable Development team. This Programme Officer role will support the delivery of the Academy's Leaders in Innovation Fellowships (LIF) programmes as part of the Newton Fund, with a focus on alumni community engagement and growth.

The Sustainable Development team is supporting development through international engineering collaborations. The team helps advance engineering’s contribution to a safer, healthier, more prosperous world for people in developing countries and emerging economies, tackling the global challenges of our time.

We are looking for someone who can support the development of a streamlined alumni support programme, help to identify relevant UK networks to further the reach of the LIF programme, and contribute to building an engaged alumni community across the international entrepreneurship programmes, making sure the alumni have a strong, beneficial relationship with the Academy, and each other.

You must have strong analytical skills, be highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a workload with multiple streams.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you. In return, we offer a fantastic package of benefits including a non-contributory pension scheme, BUPA cash plan, private medical insurance, subsidised restaurant, regular social activities, health and wellbeing programmes, as well as significant investment into your personal and professional development. Our offices are based in central London near St. James’ Park.

We support and encourage flexible working and would be happy to discuss working patterns with candidates.
