In 2015, the management and expansion of Girl Effect University (GEU) was transitioned from Nike Foundation to Mercy Corps and rebranded as GirlSPARKS, with a mission to ignite girl empowerment through:

GirlSPARKS is committed to helping practitioners and stakeholders at different levels of capacity to improve, consolidate and spread good practices grounded in solid evidence with the ultimate goal of benefitting young women and adolescent girls. GirlSPARKS partners with individuals and institutions who work closely with girls, ensuring that no girls are left behind, and ultimately improving the impact of adolescent girls programming around the world by designing “with girls” as opposed to “for girls”. GirlSPARKS facilitates know-how transfers, action collaborations, and strengthens policy and advocacy efforts.
GirlSPARKS is collaborating with external partners to develop an online platform and suite of capacity-building products and services designed for local civil society organisations (CSOs). Through collaboration, we aim to provide new opportunities for local CSOs within and outside of Mercy Corps’ programs to access training content meeting their needs and to connect and grow stronger together.
Vital in developing and managing these relationships will be the role of Partnership Advisor (PA) for GirlSPARKS. This is a new and exciting role in Mercy Corps, one that will offer a breadth of exposure across multiple partners. As the key internal driver of this capacity building initiative, the post holder will work to achieve three main objectives:
