About the Role
This is a key leadership role in our influencing team with an exciting global remit. You will lead and manage the implementation of Leonard Cheshire’s Policy, Influencing and Research Strategy 2019-2022 by developing successful policy and campaign positioning with a global perspective while also adapting it to domestic and national levels, in partnership with national DPOs.
You will keep abreast of the latest debates in the sector and explore new opportunities that enable Leonard Cheshire to be the partner of choice at both a global and national level. This is a key role that will contribute significantly to Leonard Cheshire’s strategic aim to be a leader in influencing and generating global momentum.
You will bring significant experience of leading, motivating and developing an Influencing, Campaigns and Public Affairs Team within a large and complex organisation and of working with DPOs, NGOs and other civil society organisations.
You will have experience of leading high-profile policy and influencing objectives, along with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful influencing strategies. You will have a comprehensive knowledge and proven experience of influencing International and National (UK wide) political structures. You will also have a well-developed understanding of current global and UK disability issues.
With outstanding communication, influencing and interpersonal skills you will have the ability to create positive and sustainable internal and external relationships. You will also be able to contribute to the wider strategy and corporate objectives of Leonard Cheshire and be able to think innovatively, creatively and respond positively to new opportunities. Lived experience of disability will be an advantage and leadership within disability activism would be highly desirable.
