As Head of Campaigns you will be responsible for inspiring a team, building and mobilising a powerful base of supporters to tackle both the symptoms and causes of poverty. You will share our passion for working alongside the communities of women and girls we work with in Africa, Asia and Latin America so that, together we can build lasting change.
This exciting role will lead and manage ActionAid UK’s campaigning and ensure that we develop smart strategies and powerful, innovative, tactics that help win campaigns using people power through digital and real-world channels. You will help deliver organisational objectives of recruiting new supporters and deepening the engagement of existing ones.
You will develop strategic plans to win campaigns and identify the best ways to deliver our campaign goals using social media, email and whatever comes next! This role will utilise strategic insight and expert technical knowledge of digital campaigning methods, and set high standards in creative digital communications and innovative digital campaigning tactics. You will lead and participate in teams working across multiple, fast-moving projects and develop an outreach programme of highly engaged campaign supporters, young activists and coalition partners to build a constituency of support and influence for change.
Collaborating with other teams who engage our supporters including fundraising and events, you will ensure digital campaigning channels are utilised to maximum effect help achieve their goals. You will also keep up-to-date with developments in the digital and NGO sectors, ensuring ActionAid UK is ahead of the curve in all aspects of digital campaigning.
The successful candidate will hold extensive experience of strategic communications with a deep understanding of the political and news agenda, digital and social media. You will have a strong track record in delivering innovative high profile and impactful digital mass engagement campaigns which impact on policies and decision making. Expertise in change theory, power analysis, critical paths and audience insight are also requirements.
Proven experience of fundraising from a campaigner base or grant applications is required as well as knowledge of Women’s rights / Violence Against Women and Girls.
A strong leader, you will have the ability to develop a team of technical specialists and deliver to agreed priorities and targets. Ability to write impactful copy and experience of public speaking and being a media spokesperson will also make a success of the role. Knowledge of visual content production and investigation and research skills are key.
