Children on the Edge is an international children's charity based in West Sussex. We are looking for an experienced grants and trusts fundraiser to manage and grow a portfolio of trusts, foundations and institutional donors.

Children on the Edge is a small charity based in Chichester, West Sussex; working to bring hope, life, colour and fun to vulnerable children across the globe. All our projects are overseas; helping restore the full ingredients of a childhood to marginalised and forgotten children.

We currently work in Bangladesh and Myanmar; with Rohingya refugee children and with Kachin children displaced by war. We operate camp schools for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon. We help create safer communities in Uganda for vulnerable children; and in India we help Dalit children to realise their rights and have an access to education.

Working at Children on the Edge

We are looking for an experienced grants and trusts fundraiser to manage and grow a portfolio of trusts, foundations and institutional donors. We are keen to recruit someone who is committed to supporting community led international development and who is interested in joining a small and innovative international charity. For the right candidate we would be willing to consider remote/home working with regular visits to our Chichester head office.

Key Responsibilities

·         Research and identify funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations and trusts.

·         Manage a growing portfolio of funding relationships.     

·         Develop and write compelling grant proposals and applications.

·         Prepare timely and impactful reporting to funders.

·         Develop ongoing relationships with current and prospective funders.

Our Team

We are a small but very relational team so the right candidate will be able to build relationships well and adapt to working collaboratively.

We have 8 staff in our UK office in Chichester and 1 member of staff in Thailand who manages our programmes in Asia. Otto and Monty, the office labradors, are also an essential part of the organisation. Their responsibilities range from greeting visitors, bin clearance and scooping up cakes and biscuits after our weekly staff meetings.

Where we are located

25, St Pancras, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 7LT.  A 5 minute walk from the centre of town and a 7 minute walk from Chichester train station.

Chichester is located on the south-coast (70 miles south of London, 18 miles east of Portsmouth).

Chichester is accessible by train; approximate journey:

Chichester from Portsmouth: 30 minutes

Chichester from Brighton: 50 minutes

Chichester from London Victoria: 1 hour 35 minutes

We would ask you to consider our location and your potential commute before applying. We have received applications from candidates previously who have withdrawn from interviews after realising our location and how long their commute would be.

Hours

A normal working week consists of 37.5 hours.  This role is full-time. We have a flexible working practice. Our offices are open between 8am and 5.30pm with core hours from 9am to 5.00pm.

Holiday Entitlement

23 days per year plus Public Holidays

This role offered as a permanent contract.
