Royal Academy of Engineering
£24,000 pa + benefits
Closing date: 1 October 2018
Job Type: Paid
Location: South West London
Help us deliver a world-class Summit to recognise engineering’s role in the global grand challenges.

18 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Engineering is at the heart of our nation and our future: transforming ideas and materials into global infrastructure, products and services that increase the wealth and health of our economy and society. As the UK’s national academy for engineering, we bring together the discipline’s finest minds to promote excellence and champion innovation.

The Global Grand Challenges Summits are a series of flagship events delivered in partnership with the American and Chinese National Academies of Engineering. This prestigious programme aims to inspire the next generation of engineers, policymakers and the general public, and recognise the greatest innovations of our time.

You will make certain that the 2019 Summit – comprising a week of events including two days featuring speakers of global renown – enjoys international acclaim. Your remit will span publicity and marketing, production of programmes and collateral, data management, budgetary control, and the organisation and minuting of meetings. At the same time, you will take a hands-on approach to all aspects of administration, including arranging venues, making travel arrangements and booking accommodation.

Every day will bring different challenges, and you will interact constantly with colleagues across the Academy and the broader engineering landscape, so you will need exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills.

An experienced and capable administrator, you will bring strong problem-solving abilities, proven ability to multitask and plenty of initiative and creativity. A background in events would naturally be useful, as would an interest in engineering and technology, but it’s your commitment to making this Summit the best it can be that will matter most.
