About the Role
This is a key leadership role in our influencing team with an exciting global remit.
You will lead and manage the implementation of Leonard Cheshire’s three-year Policy and Influencing Strategy. You will achieve this by supporting a policy and campaign position with a global perspective while also adapting it to domestic and national campaigns, in partnership with Disabled Persons Organisations.
You will support the Executive Director and work closely with the Global Advisor in driving significant positioning for Leonard Cheshire and ensure the organisation is an effective advocate for the inclusion of disability rights in mainstream initiatives. This is a key role that will contribute significantly to Leonard Cheshire’s strategic aim to be a leader in influencing and generating global momentum.
You will have an extensive expertise in the human rights sector and experience at senior level in the UK policy and political environment, and how it interacts with the global scenario. You will bring proven experience in people management and team development. You will have a track record of leading work with local, national and regional networks and disabled people organisations as well as experience of influencing political structures including negotiating with decision-makers and lobbying.
With outstanding communication, influencing and interpersonal skills you will have the ability to create positive and sustainable internal and external relationships. You will also be able to contribute to the wider strategy and corporate objectives of Leonard Cheshire and be able to think innovatively, creatively and respond positively to new opportunities. Lived experience of disability will be an advantage and leadership within disability activism would be highly desirable.
