This role is part of the WaterAid Institutional Funding & Partnership Team, which is responsible for supporting WaterAid to secure and manage sustainable restricted funding to deliver on its programme ambition. 

As our results-focussed and customer service-oriented Contracts & Compliance Adviser, you will support WaterAid in managing restricted programme funding effectively and in compliance with funders' requirements and in line with WaterAid's contract management devolution strategy. This entails advising on high value and / or high-risk contracts, overseeing and improving internal contract management and compliance systems, and providing trai ning and guidance on WaterAid's contract management and donor compliance processes.

This role is a permanent, full time position and sits within WaterAid's global support function, which is based in London. WaterAid will consider candidates based in countries where WaterAid UK has an operational presence, and where working hours have sufficient overlap with the UK.

In this role, you will support country teams - with a view of capacity building and developing best-practice - in the review and negotiation of contracts, including multi-country and commercial contracts. 

You'll also: 

  • Work closely with other teams (e.g. Finance, Legal, Internal Audit) to ensure WaterAid rules maximise compliance with standard terms and conditions in contracts
  • Develop and/or adapt training materials on contract management processes, from contract review and negotiations through to contract close-out
  • In coordination with the Funding Process and Systems Advisor, help develop and manage monitoring systems and processes to reflect grant/contract management performance
  • Working closely with colleagues in Bid Management and Country/Regional Teams, assess risk in new funding opportunities / contracts at every stage of the project life cycle 

To be successful, you'll need: 

  • Experience of reviewing and negotiating contracts, preferably (but not necessarily) in the field of international development
  • Demonstrated ability of managing and maintaining grant / contract management processes, preferably with experience in managing a range of grants and commercial contracts
  • Experience of - and a passion for - facilitating / delivering training and building capacity and capability in teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to adapt and work within a multicultural, multilingual, and multidisciplinary environment.

Salary:

The London based salary for this role is Circa £37,500 with excellent benefits. Salaries for different countries will vary in line with WaterAid's country/regional salary scales. WaterAid benefits in the UK include:

Additional Information:

This is an office-based post in a country where WaterAid has a presence - subject to cost and communication with the majority of WaterAid countries being practical. This post will have to work closely with colleagues and a line manager that are currently based in the UK, so time zones that make working in another country practicably feasible will be a consideration.

For London-based position, WaterAid is currently located at Canary Wharf. Due to current restrictions on office capacity the majority of our staff are working from home. All aspects of this including how we are supporting homeworking and the office transition will be discussed at the interview stage with you.
