We are seeking a dynamic Communications Specialist at Senior Consultant level to help drive forward one of IMC’s most exciting, challenging and forward-thinking programmes.

The DFID-funded High-Volume Transport programme (HVT) is undertaking ground-breaking research that will change the way donors and Governments think about transport policy and programming around the world.

The research programme seeks to update technical best practice for transport infrastructure in Low Income Countries (LICs) and disseminate it to LIC country authorities so that it is understood and used.  Research will identify how to make long distance strategic road and rail transport and urban transport more affordable and efficient, as well as more accessible, safe and green with particular emphasis on improving transport for women, children, older people and those who are vulnerable or excluded.

You will take a key role in translating research outcomes into practice for impact and be responsible for a wide range of communications activities to support effective research uptake such as digital storytelling, event management to strategic relationship building.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Manage internal and external programme communications to drive research uptake and programme reputation drawing on support as required from within the Research Team and/ or members of the Technical Advisory Panel.
  • Initiate and or identify relevant external international events and conferences and manage HVT programme participation.
  • Develop templates and style guides for HVT programme communications including newsletters, documents, research outputs.
  • Manage production of an array of communications products as required such as videos, animations, flyers, posters, brochures etc.
  • Manage HVT activity across the programme website and social media platforms including Twitter, Medium.com, YouTube and the HVT online community network.
  • Plan and manage events, webinars and conferences to facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building.
  • With the Research Uptake Specialist review the communications strategy to drive research uptake.
  • Co-ordinate with complementary donor funded programmes/ relevant organisations and associations/ etc. in regard to dissemination of research outputs.
  • Provide communications expertise and support on projects across all business streams as required.
  • Support the IMC Marketing & Communications Manager with corporate communications, issues and media management, and internal communication as required.
  • Work with the BD Manager as required to prepare marketing strategies, marketing visits, presentations and attendance at conferences and seminars.
  • When required, support the preparation of expressions of interest, pre-qualification documents and proposals for opportunities, and prepare fee submission documents.

You will be working in the Marketing & Communications team. We pride ourselves on being adaptable, dynamic and innovative in our approach to our work.

You will also collaborate with IMC staff from other business streams and from the regional teams when working on projects and as needed for business development.
