The Trustees of the Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan are searching for a new Chair to lead it from a successful start-up into a sustainable and resilient organisation for the next 5 to 10 years.

In these extraordinary times, we are looking for an extraordinary person who has the passion, drive and determination to make a difference to the lives of girls in South Sudan. The Trustees of the Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan are searching for a new Chair to lead it from a successful start-up into a sustainable and resilient organisation for the next 5 to 10 years.

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS) is a UK charity set up in response to a request in 2009  from  community leaders in Ibba County, a remote area of South Sudan, to support the South Sudan Trustees and Board of Governors as long-term partners in the funding, building and development of a girls’ boarding school.  The aim of the school, which opened in 2014, is to provide high quality primary and secondary education for 360 girls aged 10 to 18 years, from across Western Equatoria State South Sudan.

This UK-based position offers a rare opportunity to lead a small and successful UK based organisation which is already making a significant difference to lives of girls, their families and communities, and to national and international thinking and action about how to improve the quality of education in South Sudan.  The Trustees would welcome applications from people of all backgrounds including from the South Sudanese diaspora.

The role is voluntary and the time commitment is flexible.
