We are seeking a successor to the current Chair to be an active and compelling advocate for the organisation externally, as well as leading the board in a review of the effectiveness of the current strategy and our governance model.

Practical Action is a global innovator, inspiring people to discover and adopt ingenious, practical ways to free themselves from poverty.

With 50 years’ expertise, Practical Action brings communities and experts together to find practical, sustainable solutions to enable people to meet their needs, which work for both people and the planet.

Working in Africa, Asia and Latin America, Practical Action improves the lives of people through improved access to energy, sustainable agriculture, water, sanitation and waste management, and disaster risk reduction. Last year 2.1 million people benefitted directly from our work.

By 2030, our ambition is to have transformed the way knowledge and innovation is used to improve the lives of people living in, or vulnerable, to poverty.

Practical Action is now seeking a successor to the current Chair. This individual will be an active and compelling advocate for the organisation externally as well as leading the board in a review of the effectiveness of the current strategy and our governance model.

The new Chair will be have experience of, or engagement in, international development and awareness of the current global challenges. To be effective in this role, this person will be a credible leader with experience of hybrid and multi-faceted international organisations as well as having board level experience.
