Business Development Team Overview

Itad’s Business Development team is a cross-cutting unit that leads the business development strategy and process for the company with the aim of achieving financial income targets. Specific responsibilities of the BD team include:

  • Upstream – Acquiring market intelligence and feeding this into leads cycle
  • Leads Process – Managing the process of identifying bidding opportunities
  • Bidding Process – Lead coordination of proposals and expressions of interest
  • Partners/Associates – Building new and existing relationships with external consultants and partners in core areas of work
  • Account management – Coordinating the company-wide account management process
  • Commercial management – Ensuring that proposal budgets are commercially viable and meet Itad gross profit margin expectations
  • L&D – Sharing business development know how across the company
  • BD Strategy – Monitoring and improving bidding processes and strategy

 

 

The Role

You will be working within a highly motivated and energetic team to support Itad’s growth through identifying business opportunities and developing proposals. The role includes the following key areas of focus:

Lead generation, pre-positioning and bidding – The core function of the role involves bid management, proposal development and submission of tenders for a variety of bilateral, multilateral and philanthropic clients. Itad has an enviable success rate when bidding for work and you will support the identification and management of leads and pre-positioning with clients and partners for potential opportunities.

Account management & customer relationship management – Account management is important for the organisation in order to better understand client needs, build our pipeline and deliver a diversified portfolio. You will help coordinate and manage account management processes for key clients, while also developing a deep understanding of client strategy and helping to match Itad’s offer to client needs.

Providing business development support to Itad practices – The BD team provide support to Itad’s various thematic practices, and this role will involve working closely with theme groups within the practice. You will support with market and client analysis to promote achievement of theme plan and revenue targets, as well as reviewing/assessing leads and leading bid development relevant to theme. The successful candidate will help to identify preferred partners for the practice, as well as supporting relationship building activities.

Organisational support and development of business development systems – The BD team manages and coordinates various systems that allow for pipeline management and reporting, the recording of interactions with potential clients, as well as bid qualification, risk management and bid sign-off. You will support the development of these systems, as well as supporting the production of business development KPI and other reporting.

 

The Candidate

You will have at least 2 years of experience working in business development within a consultancy organisation or non-profit, with a focus on coordinating the preparation and submission of business tenders. Candidates will have a good understanding of the international development landscape, including DFID, multilaterals, UN agencies and foundations. In order to be successful in the role, you will have strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise within a busy workload.

The salary for this role is up to £30k, depending on your skills and experience.
