Provide sector leadership on ethical approaches to gathering and using images
The People in the Pictures group acts as an advisory group on ethical approaches to gathering and using images. We want to share best practice and knowledge across the sector to move the debate on NGO imagery forward.
The group was set up in response to research published by Save the Children in 2017 which, for the first time, asked the people who featured in their photographs about both their experience and their perception of the images. Ensuring that the people in the pictures play a central part of the image making process is a key part of the groups ongoing aims.
The group brings together creative and content leads from 15 NGOs and new members are encouraged to join. As well as sector leadership we also aim to provide space for peer to peer discussion and support on best practice approaches.
