Pragya is an international non-profit organisation working for the sustainable development of remote and marginalised communities living in challenging environments on the fringes of society. Pragya is committed to enabling transformational change at the grassroots, supporting communities to shape their own futures towards improved living standards and enhanced wellbeing.
Working in partnership with sister organisations in south Asia and east Africa, Pragya’s programmes propel positive change across six critical, interlinked development themes: agriculture and livelihoods; conservation and renewable energy; education; health, safe water and sanitation; gender and minorities; and natural disasters.
Pragya’s community-centred approach, innovative project design and track record of delivering positive impact have been recognised by the Whitley Award for Nature Conservation (2000), the Energy Globe Award (2005) a STARS Impact Award (2010), and Risk Award Top 20 Disaster Risk Reduction (2015). Pragya also holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESOC 2016).
