Advocating for UK NGOs and building the effectiveness of the development sector

Organisational Learning Network

The Organisational Learning Network is an informal forum where learning and development practitioners from the voluntary sector can meet to:

  • exchange ideas
  • share good practice in developing organisational learning cultures
  • explore innovative ways to encourage information sharing and knowledge management within and across organisations

Operating principles

Organisatinal Learning Network meetings will:

  • take place three or four times each year
  • focus on a topic agreed by network members as being of mutual interest or relevance
  • be facilitated by a Network member in rotation, with responsibility for sending out invitations, booking the venue and organising refreshments

As far as possible members will share responsibility for providing venues for Network meetings.

Membership

The membership is open to anyone with an interest in organisation learning in the international development sector.

Business

The agenda will be determined in the first instance by the members themselves and may include some or all of the following:

  • general discussion on the challenges of organisational learning
  • focused discussion led by Network member(s) on a particular issue
  • presentation by an external speaker

Ethos

The Network aims to operate in an informal manner with a minimum of bureaucratic procedure. Members share responsibility for the Network’s organisation, reviewing its operation and taking any follow up action arising from its meetings.
