Improve It Framework
The Bond Effectiveness Team is leading a process of identifying common assessment methods for the sector.
The Improve it framework will enable NGOs to assess, manage and report their effectiveness confidently and consistently.

The framework will support organisations, depending on their ways of working and thematic areas of work, in identifying:
- What to assess: output, outcome and impact areas and indicators
- How to assess: data collection and assessment methods and tools
- What to report: what should be communicated and how
Background papers
We are currently developing consultation papers for each of the thematic areas (the outer ring) and some of the ways of working (the middle ring) in the Improve it framework. We are working closely with a reference group of Bond members (the framework group, which includes Christian Aid, CAFOD, Deaf Child Worldwide, EveryChild, Leonard Cheshire Disability, Methodist Relief and Development Fund and Womankind), and with a wider consultation group of 180 staff from 92 Bond and NIDOS members and Comic Relief grantees to design and take forward the Improve It framework. Email Mischa Foxell if you want to join one of the task groups for a thematic area or a way of working.
These papers are building on a consultation workshop in September 2011 where over 70 people provided detailed feedback on the proposed domains of change, work done by INTRAC to summarise the research they've completed into the indicators, data collection tools and methods the sector is using to measure organisational and programme performance, smaller consultation meetings with Bond and NIDOS members and Comic Relief grantees, and further research done by the Bond Effectiveness team.
Download the draft papers that have already been released for consultation and see when the others are due for release.
Once complete, all the papers will be incorporated into the online Improve It tool, which will be launched in July 2012.
