People in Aid
People in Aid helps organisations working in international development and humanitarian relief to enhance the impact they make through better management and support of staff and volunteers. They can offer support to individual organisations to strengthen aspects of their HR work, and also undertake advocacy, research and benchmarking, organise conferences and workshops, and much more. 

People in Aid’s guides, written by expert consultants on HR, people management, leadership development and action learning, are available for free.

InterHealth
InterHealth is a medical charity with a wealth of experience in travel medicine and tropical diseases, psychological readjustment facing staff and volunteers returning home from overseas, and occupational health in the charity sector. InterHealth provides occupational, and psychological health services, medical services and travel clinic services to international develpment and humanitarian relief agencies.

NCVO People, HR and Employment pages
The NCVO website's People, HR and Employment pages has lots of 'HR How To' guides and fact-sheets, as well as a service where organisations can donate or request policies and job descriptions.

The Cranfield Trust
The Cranfield Trust offers free online information and advice on HR issues. By joining their HRNet (free) you will be able to submit HR questions for other members and Cranfield Trust HR specialist volunteers, view past questions and responses, and you will also get access to a library area with information on a range of HR topics, weblinks, and 'What's New' resources. 

Volunteering England
Volunteering England provides information and advise to anyone working with volunteers. Their Good Practice Bank has a very extensive range of information sheets, articles, case studies, and links on everything to do with volunteering.

A4ID's NGO Employment Guidelines

This guide by A4ID in collaboration with Louise Mason of Allen & Overy includes a thorough checklist of topics which should be covered in such a handbook as based on English law. Topics discussed include equal opportunities policy, anti-harassment policy, holiday leave policy, sickness absence policy, maternity and family-friendly policies, flexible working policy, expenses policy, disciplinary and grievances policies, health and safety policy, and data protection policy.

The Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD)
CIPD has an extensive range of good practice guides and other resources on their website, including employment law, diversity and equality, learning and training, as well as a large number of factsheets on their A-Z of information sources.

UK Workforce Hub
The UK Workforce Hub website has useful resources and links on topics such as developing leadership skills, good employment practice, training needs analysis, and volunteering links.

Business Link
The Business Link website has lots of advice on employing people, including recruitment options, interviewing, legal responsibilities and so on. 

Sponsoring workers from outside the EEA
This guide from the UK Border Agency is for UK employers who want to employ workers from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) under the points-based system.
