Development and Environment sub-groups

The Bond website serves as the group’s main communications and network hub but there are also a number of specific, focused, sub-groups run by coordinators in DEG member organisations. Below is an outline of the purpose of each sub-group along with links to the groups’ online spaces.

Purpose

Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD)

To provide a forum for civil society to inform the UK negotiating position on key REDD issues including the use of multilateral and bilateral approaches to implementing REDD, development of the REDD + partnership, and national or sub-national management of REDD-financed projects.

 

UK Bangladesh Climate Change Coalition

To facilitate UK NGO campaigning, advocacy and programme learning on the issue of climate change as it affects Bangladesh.

 

International Climate Change Negotiations

To support NGO advocacy around the development of the UK negotiating position at UNFCCC negotiations, and to provide a forum for the exchange of information about developments at the negotiations for members.

 

Climate Change Finance

To provide a forum for civil society engagement with DECC on governance of fast start finance, finance sources, and developing a post-2012 regime.

 

Climate Change Adaptation

To facilitate engagement between NGOs and UK government on financial mechanisms for developing country climate change adaptation, the governance of these mechanisms, sources of, and delivery of, finance.

Other key concerns are linking ecosystems and adaptation and advancing coherent agriculture and adaptation policy approaches within DFID.

 

Rio + 20

To enable DEG members to input into the development of the UK negotiating position at the Rio 2012 summit and its preparatory meetings.
