Big Lottery Fund
The Big Lottery Fund launched its Big Thinking consultation on 17 November 2008 to generate input on how its funding should be distributed in 2009-2015.
The consultation was open to the UK public until 27 February 2009 and took the form of an online survey to help the Big Lottery Fund frame its 2009-2015 strategy.
What Bond did
The Bond Funding Working Group liaised with the Bond secretariat on a programme of activities to influence the outcome of the consultation and support Bond members' inputs to the consultation.
Bond's Chief Executive, the Chair of the Bond Board and the Donor Advocacy Officer met with senior figures at the Big Lottery Fund to build a constructive dialogue around this consultation.
The Bond Funding Working Group steering committee had consistent dialogue with Big Lottery Fund staff to ensure we maintained a good working relationship between the Big Lottery Fund and the international development sector.
Bond co-ordinated responses to the consultation that fell outside the online survey and hosted a meeting between Big Lottery Fund staff and the Funding Working Group on 19 February 2009 to discuss which aspects of the previous International Programme should be retained and where improvements could be made. We used this opportunity to convey the key messages that had been developed by the Funding Working Group.
Feedback from the Big Lottery Fund on the international development sector contribution to the consultation was very positive and there was strong commitment to retain a broad International Programme in the future.
The new programme should be launched in September or October 2010.
