Ben Jackson appointed as new Bond Chief Executive

Bond is delighted to announce the appointment of Ben Jackson as its new Chief Executive.  He will take up the post on 27 February 2012.

Ben JacksonBen joins Bond after two years as UK Director at Crisis Action, an international organisation dedicated to helping prevent conflicts and human rights abuses.  Here he played a lead role in convening international NGO coalition campaigns to protect people caught up in crises which included driving lobbying of key decision-makers and developing strategic relationships.

He has 20 years experience in the public and private sectors, and in Whitehall and Westminster, in senior communications, policy and campaigning positions including Director of Communications and Campaigns at Shelter, Director at Action for Southern Africa, Head of Campaigns at the World Development Movement and Associate Director at Forster Communications.

Commenting on his appointment Ben Jackson said, “I am thrilled and honoured to be taking up this role. The battle to end the obscenity of mass poverty in a world of plenty remains one of the most vital causes of our times. The UK international development sector has made a truly outstanding contribution to this global cause but it also faces serious challenges as we weather deepening international economic turbulence.

I look forward to working closely with Bond members to remake the public case for development in these uncertain times, shape international public policy to empower poor people, and further demonstrate our effectiveness in changing lives on the ground.”

Dominic White, Chair of the Bond Board, said, "I'm delighted Ben is joining Bond as its new Chief Executive.  Ben has a great vision for international development and brings huge energy and experience to this role.  The UK NGO development sector faces particularly challenging times ahead and Bond's role is critical in working with and supporting its members through this period.  Under Ben's leadership Bond will continue to provide excellent support to its members so we can keep on making progress in poverty reduction and sustainable development despite the economic crisis".

Ben succeeds Nick Roseveare who left Bond in November 2011 to become Chief Executive of Bond member MAG (Mines Advisory Group).  Lyndall Stein is currently acting as interim Chief Executive.
