Membership
Bond was founded in 1993 on the initiative of 61 NGOs working in international development. Over the years, the network has flourished and now stands at over 330 members strong.
Bond is made up of a diverse range of organisations that work across the many areas of international development. In 2008-9, the profile of the membership changed slightly but overall remained stable at 333 members. The number of small members (categories A and B) decreased from 48% to 43%, while the number of medium-sized members (categories C and D) increased by 4%. The number of large members (categories E, F and G) also increased from 9% in the previous year to 12%.

Income
Bond's income of £1,384,845 is derived from learning and training fees (29%), membership subscriptions (24%), a Department for International Development grant (20%), advocacy and representation income (18%), membership and communications income (8%) and bank interest (1%). Of our total income, £868,144 is unrestricted income.
Expenditure
Bond's expenditure of £1,258,978 is spent on learning and training provision (31%), advocacy and representation (39%), membership and communications (29%), governance (less than 1%) and generating funds (less than 1%).
