Aid update: draft bill on aid volumes published

Secretary of State for International Development Douglas Alexander has published a draft bill for enshrining in law the target of 0.7% of GNI as aid.

This was previously mentioned in the Queen's speech in November 2009. Because of the bill's draft status, there is no parliamentary time for the measure before the General Election.

The International Development Committee has launched a consultation on the draft bill.
