Political parties commit to World Poverty Day in UK General Election
6 November 2009
All three main political parties have committed to holding a ‘World Poverty Day' during the upcoming UK General Election campaign.
This would enable party leaders to speak about international development on the same day and for the differences between the parties' policies affecting the poorest people in the world to be made clear to the electorate.
The announcement came at the Bond Annual Conference on 5 November, where the international development spokespeople from Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats shared a platform for the first time ever.
